Horizon Announces the Sale of the Meadowlark Building in Downtown Fargo

Horizon Real Estate Group is pleased to announce the sale of the Meadowlark Building, located at 503 7th Street North in downtown Fargo, North Dakota.

From the KRJ Building to the Meadowlark

For many years Fargo knew it as the KRJ engineering building. The three-story brick building sits in downtown Fargo's Cathedral District, across from the Cathedral of St. Mary. When it was rebranded as the Meadowlark Building, it got a look to match its new name.

In 2015, local artist Steve Knutson painted two giant western meadowlarks, North Dakota's state bird, on the building's stair tower. Stretching more than 40 feet, the mural has one bird facing downtown and the other facing west. It turned a blank wall into one of downtown Fargo's most recognizable pieces of public art.

A Timeless Renovation

With local architect Kevin Bartram, the building was renovated into a timeless space. Exposed brick, heavy timber beams and polished concrete give the Meadowlark the character that creative and professional tenants look for. The project was made possible in part by Fargo's Renaissance Zone program, which offers tax incentives for reinvesting in downtown properties and has helped bring many of the city's historic buildings back to life.

Over the years the Meadowlark has been home to many notable Fargo-Moorhead businesses, including:
